Our services have been retained to recruit a VICE PRESIDENT OF OPERATIONS for a growing animal nutrition manufacturer. Our client is a billion dollar division of a major international food and consumer products manufacturer. Position open due to promotion and reports directly to Division General Manager. Will be located in thriving Missouri/Arkansas area mid-size community offering outstanding quality of life, moderate COL, good schools and many outdoor recreational options.

The VP of Operations will have oversight for 5 manufacturing locations as well as four small, support facilities. Each of the Plant Managers report to the Director of Operations who, in turn, reports to the VP Operations. Corporate Quality Manager also reports directly to the VP of Operations. These are highly automated facilities so not labor intensive. All employees are nonunion. Essential responsibility to help establish and oversee the strategic direction of the business line; participate on the leadership team; establish operational imperatives necessary for delivery of short- and long-term business plans, provide leadership and establish cultural tone for the manufacturing organization consistent with broader company culture.

TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide visionary leadership to the operational, safety and quality management teams for the development and execution of short- and long-term goals and objectives in support of the strategic plan. Duties include: • Provide leadership in the development and oversight of short- and long-term manufacturing, capacity and product/process strategic plans and objectives that align with company goals. • Identify and coordinate the necessary resources for optimum utilization of manufacturing assets. • Develop operational capacity and production plans and objectives (with input from key cross-functional managers) that support delivery of business goals. • Helps to maintain and improve relationships with key customers and suppliers. • Provides ongoing reporting to the GM as well as CEO of parent company regarding the status of the various operations. TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: • Has a minimum of 10-15 years of successful experience in planning, organizing, developing and controlling all aspects of an ingredient manufacturing and/or food processing operation. • Bachelor of Science degree in Management or related field. • Understands what drives and how to control cost(s) within a complex manufacturing supply chain. Has the capability to achieve and grow the EBITDA margin standards as required. • Acquires and applies professional/technical knowledge, skills, experience, and judgment to accomplish results, serve customers better and contribute to the organization’s intellectual capital. • Has a good mental vision of a successful manufacturing/processing operation. • • Strongly prefer candidates with multi-plant operations leadership experience but would consider current Plant Manager in large operation. Mostly importantly, must have a record of successfully driving operations. Prefer ingredients background (animal or human) but open to all food manufacturing. Should have a stable employment history with a record of steadily increasing responsibility.

Salary in the $160-180,000 base range + bonus program that historically is exceptional (one of the best I’ve seen in my 30+ years as a headhunter) + relocation and competitive benefits.
