Our services have been retained to recruit a QUALITY MANAGER (aseptic operations) for a new plant start-up in medium size Southern Wisconsin community (moderate cost-of-living, good schools, healthy economy and superior quality of life). Our client is an emerging, national multi-plant producer of aseptic and low-acid drinks.

This newly created role reports to the Director of QA and Food Safety and will oversee all QA for plant which currently employs 55-60 but will be around 80 by early Winter and projected to be over 150 by mid-2020. Will lead team of two exempt and 8 non-exempt. Position requires an understanding of aseptic beverage product development, quality, and technology expertise. These techniques includes but not limited to quality and safety assurance of all products, plant and equipment capabilities, accuracy of formulations, GMPs, and HACCP guidelines a long with technical leadership practices in developing Lyons technical lab services department.

Description of Responsibilities: • Develop key objectives to be met for all direct reports; stressing salary administration will be met upon meeting/exceeding stated objectives. All objectives should reflect strict division of labor/responsibility within the QC function and should state explicitly all given responsibility and promote direct accountability. • Direct and provide appropriate training for all direct reports. • Assist SVP of Quality Assurance by providing quantitative and justifiable criteria for possible expansion of the AQC staff. • Ensure that all direct reports are functioning effectively within their given job description. • Assist Director of Technical Services with employee reviews, salary determination, and job description development/revisions • Develop/maintain responsibility for finished goods specifications for all manufactured products. • Develop/implement required testing protocols and methods for existing and all new products/packages. • Implement program and train resources for better support of P.C. function (i.e., brix, drained weight, viscosity, etc...), eliminating the need for P.C. technician to conduct in-process analyses. • Common objective with P.C. and R.M. Manager : Develop and implement comprehensive discrete HOLD procedures for raw materials and finished goods. The procedures should be explicit with regard to required information flow between all functional areas concerned. • Maintain responsibility for formula control (i.e., formula being used by cooks vs. historical records), as well as the development/use of new AQC sheet when the formula for a given item number has been revised. • Develop and direct all finished goods sampling (protocol development). • Maintain on-hold records and coordinate disposition with P.C. Manager, R.M. Manager, Production and Accounting. • Inspect and evaluate all day-after products to include approval/rejection by the Approval Committee. • Conduct/monitor all storage stability evaluations. • Ensure that all direct reports are effectively making batch adjustments of cook's batch samples, to include preservative adjustments, when appropriate. • Maintain responsibility for the investigation/disposition of all product complaints. • In the event Sr. VP of QA is not available. The QC Manager will act as SQF Practitioner and follow through with all duties required to maintain SQF certification, food safety plans and quality plans. • Ensure proper AQC staffing requirements for "after-hours" production and weekend production, when needed. • Ensure that all finished goods are tested per the customers testing requirements, and when required, communicate all finished goods testing results to customer

Requires minimum Bachelor’s degree from accredited university (prefer a science) and 5+ years food industry QA experience with strength in aseptic operations.
