|Our services have been retained to recruit a DIRECTOR OF ENGINEERING for a four-plant division of multi-billion-dollar international food processor. Our client, a profitable and fast-growing human and animal food manufacturer, is based in medium size metro in the Plains States (moderate COL, booming economy, great educational options and superior quality of life) with manufacturing spread across multiple facilities throughout the nation. The Director of Engineering - Animal Nutrition will be responsible for the implementation of engineering processes, procedures, and technical resources in accordance with company’s engineering policy and industry best practices. The role will drive significant capital projects to ensure that business objectives are achieved including all aspects of capital management and budgeting for Animal Nutrition.
IMPORTANT: • Initially a sole contributor role but they expect the team to grow over time. • Position based at corporate HQ – do not want someone to work remotely

A synopsis of key responsibilities: • Create commonality and standards for Engineering throughout the organization • Brings automation and controls to the organization to streamline processes, produce repeatability. • Responsible for all aspects of capital project management for Animal Nutrition. • Leads stakeholders in large capital projects through a thorough stage-gate approach for all key phases of projects (exploration, development/scoping/feasibility, planning, implementation, commissioning). • Assure compliance with corporate policies related to purchasing and procurement (using bid documents, multiple bids, RFPs, etc). • Project Manager on all large projects (Scope/Schedule/Budget/Startup) • Propose and control the cost of projects in accordance with Symrise corporate guidelines. • Propose and monitor projects in accordance with the key performance indicators. • Responsible for all aspects of capital management and budgeting for Animal Nutrition. • Manages Global capital spend, forecasting, and budgeting. • Ensures alignment with business strategy and priorities. • Reviews and approves project cost control reports, cost estimates, and manpower and facilities requirements forecast.
Minimum qualifications: • BS in Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering. • A minimum of 6-10 years successful engineering experience in the food industry. • At least five years of successful experience leading large capital projects. • New process designs and improvements. • Travel up to 50%, including international travel.
