|Our services have been retained to recruit a PRODUCTION SHIFT MANAGER (NIGHTS) for profitable, emerging, publicly traded food & beverage processor. Position located in community of roughly 12,000 one hour from KC and offering low cost-of-living, low-crime, good schools, several area colleges and many outdoor recreational options. Position reports to Director of Operations and will work 12 hour shifts (7pm to 7am) on 3-2-3 two week rotation: Work Mon. & Tues., off Wed. & Thurs., work Fri., Sat. & Sun., off Mon. & Tues., work Wed. & Thurs., and off Fri., Sat. & Sun. Will play critical role in the day to day operations of the production operations in this 110 person, union (UFCW – very good working relationship) grain handling, processing and bulk packaging facility. Shift Managers ensure safe & reliable operations and provide leadership and guidance to hourly employees while coordinating with production managers on plant performance. MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES & COMPETENCIES • Directly manage crews of 10-15 hourly employees to achieve maximum production of top-quality products in a safe and efficient manner. Indirectly responsible for managing up to 40-50 employees at any given time. • Must plan and organize daily shift activities, determining manpower requirements and manpower utilization necessary to meet and/or exceed desired goals. Responsible for scheduling of hourly employees. • Conduct annual detailed performance reviews with hourly employees to emphasize the required standards for the various jobs. Performance reviews will be written and maintained in the employee’s personnel file. Counsel subordinates. • Set objectives for crew. Communicate company plans, objectives and expectations to hourly employees. Issue instruction and directions and make sure resources are available to accomplish them. Must have good communication skills. Ability to achieve results through others. • Train Management and hourly Employees on equipment; equipment operation and process. • Accountable for continuous improvement of plant performance, safety, environmental and product quality objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS Prefer minimum Associates Degree or equivalent experience in food or beverage manufacturing but open to considering candidates from all manufacturing environments. Require minimum two years supervisory experience in a manufacturing. Experience with SEMS, Process Safety Management and ERP/SAP preferred. Strong leadership, coaching and interpersonal skills as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Salary in the $70-75,000 base range with 10% bonus potential and $500/month shift differential plus competitive benefits package. Relocation assistance provided on individual basis based on need.
