Our services have been retained to recruit a high-potential PROCESS IMPROVEMENT ENGINEER/CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT LEAD for a 600 person food manufacturing facility in the plains states region i.e., IA/NE/SD. This 8 line, 350,000 sq. ft. union plant is my client’s largest North American operation and business is booming! Position open as incumbent was promoted to Plant Manager in another location. Facility located in an area consisting of several communities with total population exceeding 150,000. It is also a region offering an abundance of outdoor recreational activities, a four-seasons climate, very good schools, low cost-of-living, strong economy and a superior quality of life. My client is a multi-billion dollar international food manufacturer offering significant opportunity and challenge.

Position reports to the Plant Manager. The Process Improvement Engineer/CI Lead will provide technical leadership related to machine and process capability and reliability. Develop and improve manufacturing processes for cost reduction initiatives, optimizing the value stream and eliminating waste

Accountabilities: • Expertise in Continuous Improvement, Lean Concepts, Six Sigma, Theory of Constraints, and Value Stream Mapping – Focused on optimizing each process and removing waste from the system. • Identifies and manages manufacturing process concerns with regards to lowering costs, optimizing quality, quantity, time, and food safety conditions to ensure continuous improvement. • Takes the lead to improve processes to deliver new products. • Labor optimization • Optimize current processes to deliver a finished product within agreed quality specifications while ensuring the operational costs are minimized. • Understands the costs of manufacture for different process alternatives and determine the most cost efficient method. • Manages, modifies, and develops process documentation for standard operating procedures. • Supports engineering activities and direct projects/ direct reports if required. • Works closely with technical services, procurement and packaging regarding value analysis, equipment and systems, cost reduction and documentation. • Works with teams to help implement new products, new recipes, new technologies and new materials. • Works closely with product development and the plant production team to ensure that the new product commission process is effective and efficient

Requirements: • Minimum Bachelor’s degree required – prefer engineering but open • Certifications/Licenses: PE credential preferred but not required • Continuous Improvement, Lean Six Sigma • Experience: 5+ years in process development • Strong working knowledge of food science, health and nutrition, food manufacturing processes, quality assurance principles, ingredient supply market and market research practices

Because of the current pandemic and resulting conditions, multiple phone interviews and video conferencing will be utilized. On-site visit will be final step but, because of COVID-19, my client is not doing plant tours.
