|Our services have been retained to recruit a PLANT ENGINEER for $100,000,000 division of growing and profitable national food (refrigerated and frozen bakery products) processor based in South Texas metro. Customers include national restaurant chains, wholesale chains, wholesale clubs and retail outlets in the U.S., Canada, Mexico and Europe. Private equity ownership is investing capital and driving exciting changes and growth with goal of doubling to tripling sales in next 3-5 years.
Position reports to the Director of Operations and is directly responsible for the planning, development and implementation of Capex and major M & R projects. Provides leadership and support – both as leader and team member - for the identification, development and effective implementation of various technical & maintenance related continuous improvement initiatives that drive improved operational results. Provides engineering and operational input and assists in evaluation of process and packaging feasibility for new/improved products/packages. Demonstrates stewardship and exercises ownership for the development and coordination of the Annual and Long-Range Capex Plans and for compliance with Environmental & Regulatory Operating, Permitting and Reporting Requirements. Proactively develops and nurtures strong collaborative relationships with other departments and functions to improve effectiveness as key member of Operations team. Annual capital budget of between $2-3MM with approximately 30 projects. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Planning, Design & Implementation of Major Projects o Develop, design and implement major individual Capex and M&R projects in timely and effective manner • Continuous Improvement Initiatives & Technical Resource o Monitor and Drive OEE Improvements – Jointly (Eng. & Maint.) Own Operational Reliability Reporting & Analysis o Provide leadership and/or support for the identification, development and accomplishment of improvement initiatives that significantly improve the operational and business performance of the company. • Capex Program Planning & Management o Ownership for timely development of the Annual Capex Budget for Operations o Planning, Monitoring and Coordination of the timely implementation of the Annual Capex Budget o Develop& Update Preliminary Long-Range Capex Plans for Operations • New Product/Package Feasibility & Planning o Provide Engineering & Operations process and packaging input on new/improved product/package feasibilities o Develop aligned engineering plans for Process & Packaging projects to meet new Production requirements • Compliance with Regulatory & Company Environmental and Safety Requirements: o Monitors Operations to assure compliance with Environmental & Safety operating requirements o Manages Environmental & Regulatory Permitting and Reporting Requirements to ensure compliance
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS • Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent • 5-7 years relevant experience in a consumer food process and packaging manufacturing environment • Demonstrated project leadership, stakeholder alignment and project management capabilities • Meaningful experience in turnaround, high performance, continuous improvement or similar work environment • Demonstrated conceptualizing, planning and organizing skills • Working knowledge with use of AutoCAD
