Our services have been retained to recruit a LEADER, PROCESS IMPROVEMENT/BLACK BELT for multi-plant, billion dollar plus food processor based in Midwest underoing aggressive lean initiative.  Newly created job will be based in Ohio.  Position reports to Plant Manager and responsible for driving process improvement within and across the manufacturing and distribution sites.  Will provide coaching and guidance to green belts within the sites and across the supply chain. This Black Belts will leverage the DMAIC process and other six sigma tools to facilitate improvements.  Requires BS (Engineering, Operations, etc.) and 4+ years process improvement/lean experience in a consumer packaged (strongly prefer foods) environment. 


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: SAFETY: Maintains highest standard of Safety for all functions on an ongoing basis and ensures compliance for self and others to OSHA standards. Performs daily inspection of all PPE required including but not limited to SLIP-RESISTANT/STEEL-TOED SHOES, safety glasses, gloves, shields & aprons to ensure good overall condition of items that provide optimal personal safety & protection while working in the production area. Performs proper housekeeping, uses appropriate personal protective equipment for tasks and ensures compliance for department. Responsible for providing a safe working environment including compliance with company, state, local and federal policies and regulations. Drives improved safety through Safety Pillar team support.

QUALITY: Ensures company standards for cleanliness, food and equipment safety and efficient productivity. Ensures compliance to quality, food safety and HAACP support programs; assures conformity to all company, customer and government standards.

TEAMWORK: Effectively communicates verbally and written with Team Members, Management, Customers & Vendors and ensures compliance to this. Works respectfully with all team members to ensure the Safety, Quality, production and support of our products and goals on a daily basis. Provides training, direction, development, evaluation, coaching and leadership and mentoring . Use modern management techniques to promote team building and to allow decision making at the lowest level. Actively participates in special projects or tasks. Actively participates in department/shift/team meetings and is involved with improvement/resolutions & follow-up . FUNCTIONS:

Promotes integrity, respect, accountability, continuous improvement and positive interactions with all Team Members, customers & vendors. Guides and positively motivates Project Teams Responsible for meeting established objectives pertaining to plant goals and performance Assist and audit Pillar teams, attend regular meetings and measure progress Conduct regular audits and manage Layered Process Audit Work closely with accounting/finance department to determine plant loss and cost saving opportunities Drive best practices, challenge status quo and guide pillar/project teams Drive total employee engagement and develop associates skills through effective coaching and mentoring Maintains close working relationship with all departments and responds to deviations from standards immediately. Responsible for & maintains positive employee, corporate and community relations along with appropriate interface with customer service. Ensures a disciplined and safe work environment. Supports the overall Operational Excellence program and deployment Provides assistance & information to leadership team with strategic needs and plans for plant operations Regular Attendance is required in accordance with Company attendance policy and procedures. Performs tasks or responsibilities as assigned by Management. Plans and creates agenda for monthly Operational Excellence engagement sessions and generates summary report from engagement. Coaches and develops pillar teams in Lean/Six Sigma process improvement methodologies.     REQUIREMENTS: 7-10 years operations and leadership experience in a manufacturing environment required, preferably food-related industry. 2-4 years of experience as Certified Lean six sigma Black Belt within multiple manufacturing sites Functional knowledge of MS Office (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) Ability to direct and lead cross functional improvement teams Must be a proven leader and team player, with experience in change management Strong team builder, mentor, coach, and influential leader; ability to build trust among associates Excellent communication skills, proven capability to lead change in a team environment Analytical/statistical problem solver; thorough understanding of problem solving methodologies. Ability to work flexible hours and support multiple project teams and balance priorities. Demonstrated ability to appropriately work with confidential information and situations and manage correspondence. Positive, energetic leadership and self-motivation skills. Working knowledge of manufacturing , scheduling, and production processes. Ability to read & interpret written & verbal direction while working in a safe, effective & productive manner within a fast paced environment. SUPERVISORY  RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervisory responsibilities include training, scheduling, planning, assigning and directing work; rewarding; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
