Responsible for individual and team development, quality performance, cost controls, and service to customers (internal and external). This position is responsible for a team of individuals with varying levels of experience and education. The Team Leader-2 uses in-depth training in manufacturing, warehousing, and scheduling processes. The Team Leader-2 provides support and assistance to team members in solving problems and improving performance. The Team Leader-2 is expected to have broad influence on the organization, both across shift and function, in helping to manage the business and drive improved performance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS • Directly supervises the day-to-day operations of a group of employees to ensure a smooth work process. • Acts as liaison, representing the Team in general, interfacing and influencing other functions in the organization. • Ensures a safe working environment, through understanding and compliance with applicable safety and environmental regulations. • Develops, interprets and ensures the consistent application of organizational policies and procedures, including GMP’s. • Communicates, monitors, and ensures achievement of goals, objectives, and timelines. • Develops or approves recommendations to change systems, policies and procedures; ensures timely and accurate implementation. • Estimates personnel needs and ensures adequate staffing in order to meet production demands. • Manages or provides input to management regarding individual team member performance, training, and development. • May design formal training programs • Initiates, implements, and manages projects with a short-term focus. • Participates in the development and conduct team meetings, presentations, and formal training programs. • Handles unusual or difficult inquires/situations through direct personal action or referral to appropriate management representative. • Conducts performance evaluations, schedules and approves overtime, issues disciplinary actions, and resolves employee issues. • Must maintain satisfactory attendance, to include timeliness. • Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory considerations. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES • Develops, coaches and mentors subordinate staff. Conducts performance evaluations; recommends salary adjustments; rewards employees or takes disciplinary action, as necessary; addresses complaints and resolves issues.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Business Administration or related technical field, plus 3+ years experience • Strong leadership skills • Experience with MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint at an intermediate level. • Available to work an off-shift (swing or graveyard).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS • Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Business Administration or related technical field, plus 7 years experience. • Experience with leading high performance work teams and providing motivation to achieve plan goals. • Skilled in team building, leadership and mentoring skills. • Experience with Reading, analyzing, and interpreting general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. • Experience with writing reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. • Experience with effectively presenting information and responding to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
